VISUAL & PERFORMING ARTS
Our Visual and Performing Arts Department expose children to a variety of experiences that enhance their understanding and appreciation of the Arts. Art classes are held in a separate art studio equipped to provide students with experiences in a variety of media and techniques including: drawing, painting, weaving, sculpture and ceramics. Each spring, the students present an art exhibit for the appreciation of the entire school community. In music, kindergarten children begin learning the Orff-Schulwerk method that develops basic rhythm and movement through the Orff instruments. They continue this study through their fifth grade year. Choral instruction, learning basic notation and exposure to diverse music are also components of the music curriculum. Instruction in strings, woodwinds, and brass instruments begins in fourth grade.
