EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES
The Chandler School is committed to nurturing in its students a positive self-image, sensitivity to the greater community, and ethical values in the context of providing an exceptional, academically rigorous education. In support of these efforts our Educational Resources staff exist to foster academic success, emotional health, and personal growth. Two distinct yet complementary services are available to the Chandler community. Under the direction of the Middle School Educational Associate, support services are available to students who demonstrate needs for academic enrichment or remediation. Under the direction of the psychologist, consultation to parents, students, faculty, and staff is available regarding developmental issues, family transitions, social-emotional well-being, and behavior management. School administrators refer students to our Educational Resources staff; however, students and their parents may access the psychologist with or without a referral from an administrator.
The Educational Associate provides the following services:
- Support and assistance for exceptional students within the Chandler community who demonstrate short-term needs for either enrichment or remediation.
- Assessment and analysis of student learning styles, strengths and weaknesses through observation and evaluation incorporating input from faculty, parents, administrators and other relevant sources as necessary.
- Resource materials to faculty to support their implementation of recommended strategies and accommodations.
- Ongoing consultation with school administrators, faculty and parents regarding students' progress and needs.
The psychologist provides the following services:
- Consultation to parents and families regarding developmental issues and concerns, family transitions and their management via phone, in person, and through presentations at parent forums or articles in school publications.
- Consultation to faculty and staff regarding students' social, emotional, and behavioral well-being as relates to their educational progress and performance; this may involve classroom observations of students by the psychologist.
- Resource materials to parents and faculty regarding a variety of developmental, social, emotional and behavioral topics.
- Crisis intervention and counseling as needed.
- Direct, short-term support to children and families regarding a wide range of issues; students and families are referred to professionals in the community when issues require ongoing intervention or support.
Questions regarding our Educational Resources may be directed to any school administrator or to the staff listed below. To refer a student for educational support services, please speak with the Head of School or the Assistant Head of School. To refer a student for counseling services, you may speak with a school administrator or contact the psychologist directly.
