LIFE AFTER CHANDLER
Chandler graduates are well prepared to continue their education as they graduate and move on to secondary school. To assist families in the important decisions regarding life after middle school, Chandler provides high school placement counseling. Parents of students in grade seven are invited to an informational evening on secondary schools admissions with local admissions officers to explain the up-coming process and discuss options, and students in grade eight participate in the High School Survey course which prepares them for the specifics of the process and introduces local independent secondary school and boarding school options through on-campus visits by school representatives and current high school students. Individual parent conferences with Chandler’s Assistant Head of School help identify the best opportunities for the right match between each Chandler student and prospective secondary schools
Secondary school placement counseling is offered to students and their families to prepare 8th grade students and their parents for the process of high school admission. The process begins in the spring with parents of 7th grade students attending Secondary Schools Information Night with a panel of Admissions Directors from local independent day and boarding schools. Each fall, 8th grade students take the high school survey course which introduces them to the application process. Students learn about the range of school options within and beyond the Pasadena area. School representatives and current high school students, often Chandler alums, visit the school as part of the program. Individual parent and student conferences with the Assistant Head and Head of School help identify the best opportunities for the right match between Chandler graduate and prospective secondary schools
