TECHNOLOGY
Our technolgy program embraces and supports the school's mission by integrating computing into our core curriculum. We strive to foster enthusiasm for learning, independent thinking, collaboration and good character. We believe that greater opportunity for enrichment and innovation exists within the classroom if technology is available to every student.
History
Technology, specifically computing, has enjoyed a long history in Chandler's Middle School. As our needs have grown we have expanded beyond the traditional computer lab.
In the 05/06 school year we added computers to our art room and two computers labs and updated the computers in our library. For the 07/08 school year we have also added two laptop carts. For the 08/09 school year we will implement a full one-to-one laptop program for all Middle School students. Among other benefits this will mean that all of our students will have complete and equal access to computers and related resources whenever they are needed.
Laptops originally gained widespread use at Chandler School in the Fall of 2005. Teachers were the first to receive laptops as part of a technology initiative to give our faculty and staff modern computers and software.
Throughout the 06/07 school year many students began bringing laptops to school. Embracing this trend we introduced a voluntary laptop program to our Middle School students. In the Spring of 2007 after research, experimentation and long-term planning by administration, faculty and the technology department we announced that a full one-to-one laptop program was in our future.
