Chandler students deserve excellent teachers and excellent administrators. Recruiting and retaining faculty and staff of the highest caliber has always been one of Chandler’s priorities.
This week we begin a national search for permanent Lower and Middle School directors who will join Chandler at the start of the 2018-19 school year. Cara Gancedo in the Lower School and Jill Bergeron in the Middle School are serving in an interim capacity this year.
Coreen Hester of Resource Group 175, an educational search firm, has been retained by Chandler to lead simultaneous searches for both positions. Coreen will be at Chandler for the next three days conducting interviews with faculty, staff, designated parents and other relevant constituencies. She will use the visit and interviews to write position statements that will be used to advertise the positions and to identify a talented candidate pool. Coreen will help us evaluate the candidates and assist in the identification of finalists for the position.
Four search firms were interviewed before we settled on Coreen and Resource Group 175. Coreen has more than forty years of independent school leadership experience that includes ten years as Head of Hamlin School, a K-8 school in San Francisco and ten years as Head of the American School in London, England a pre-K – 12 school.
The final hiring decisions rest with the head of school, but everyone at Chandler has a voice in the process. With the whole community’s participation in mind, a survey link below gives you an opportunity to express your thoughts on the qualities we should be looking for in our next Lower and Middle School directors. The link will be open for a week. Please submit your responses by October 18. The survey results will only be seen by Coreen and me.
