High School Placement

Families describe Chandler’s high school placement program as personal, supportive and successful. The process focuses on the best fits for each student - schools where they will flourish.

Chandler graduates have developed a love of learning in a community that cares about them, has high aspirations for them, and holds them to the highest standards. They know the joys of thinking for themselves, working together on a challenge, and caring compassionately for others.

Nikhil Adarkar '13
High School: Polytechnic School
College: Whitman College

"Chandler taught me to have confidence in myself," Nikhil says. In high school, Nikhil's main activities were playing for the varsity tennis team, serving as President of the Conservative Club, and serving as a Student Ambassador. Nikhil might major in economics, and he's also interested in learning more about business.
Kaley Mitchell '13
High School: Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy
College: Lewis & Clark College

"Chandler taught me perseverence, and especially how to talk to my teachers and ask for their help when I needed it," reflects Kaley. Kaley surprised herself by trying out for water polo in high school, which she describes as challenging but one of the best decisions she's ever made. She also helped create an ocean conservation club, which brought many new people into her life, and continued in the Girl Scouts (with many old Chandler friends).
Alejandro Salinas '13
High School: Loyola High School
College: Stanford University

"Chandler gave me the confidence and preparation to challenge myself academically," notes Alejandro. Alejandro was a captain of his high school cross country and track teams. As a junior and senior, he was a sports editor of the school newspaper. He led eight service trips to Tijuana, and was a Student Ambassador. He graduated Summa Cum Laude, received the Christian Service Award, and also achieved Eagle Scout honors. Alejandro plans to major in human biology or bioengineering.
Nicholas Salinas '13
High School: Loyola High School
College: Massachusetts Institute of Technology

"Chandler over-prepared me for high school," Nicholas says. "I had the confidence to take as many AP and honors classes as I wanted." In high school, Nicholas was Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, President of the Association of Latin American Students, and a student leader for community service. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and won the Fritz B. Burns Outstanding Service Award. Nicholas intends to study computer science and engineering.
Sophia Terrile '13
High School: Polytechnic School
College: King's College, London

"At Chandler, I learned how to be a dedicated student," Sophia says. Sophia played tennis and badminton in high school, and served in the Girls' Service League. She intends to study international relations as she heads to London for college. Sophia's advice to younger students: "Explore as many different opportunities as possible."
Maya Vasquez '13
High School: Flintridge Preparatory School
College: Yale University

"Everything I learned in high school grew from the core skills I learned at Chandler," reflects Maya. In high school, Maya enjoyed belonging to the film club and writing for the school newspaper. She also played first and third base on the softball team. Maya advises younger students, "Take changes and new experiences in stride, and just do what you love."
Charlotte Stephens '12
High School: Westridge School
College: Harvard University

"I felt comfortable pushing myself to take the hardest classes in high school because of the study skills my Chandler teachers taught me," Charlotte reflects. Charlotte played on the tennis and soccer teams in high school, volunteered at Huntington Hospital and Learning Works Charter School, and won her school's Outstanding Achievement in Mandarin Chinese award. "I'm so happy that my Chandler classmates are still some of my closest friends," she says.
William Pai '12
High School: Flintridge Preparatory School
College: UC Santa Barbara

"Chandler prepared me extremely well for high school academics," William says. William played football and golf in high school, and was a member of the chorus. He also served as President of the Multicultural Student Union and Vice President of the Club for Christ. William was named a National Merit Scholar Finalist and plans to study economics as well as computer science in college.
Samantha Rivas '12
High School: Mayfield Senior School
College: The University of Portland

"Appreciate your Chandler education," Samantha urges students. "It is a huge advantage in life, so make the most of it." In high school, Samantha pursued a love of math that began at Chandler, and was active as an officer in the Associated Student Body. She played water polo and tennis, and volunteered at Huntington Hospital and with Meals on Wheels. She is a President's Scholar at the University of Portland, where she is pursuing a pre-med track.
Morgan Dickerson '12
High School: Polytechnic School
College: Duke University

"Chandler prepared me very well for rigorous academics, and gave me a grounding in theatre arts, which helped me participate at a high level in high school," notes Morgan. Morgan was involved with peer mentoring, the Student Ambassador program and global initiatives program at his high school. He got involved in many community service projects, participated in equestrian sports and also played football and baseball. Morgan intends to major in international relations in college.
