Costa Rica Exchange Program

Chandler has launched a new student exchange program with a sister school in Costa Rica. Over spring break, nine students traveled in Costa Rica for a week with two of Chandler's Spanish teachers.
Eighth grade students on the inaugural Costa Rica exchange trip spent two days at IPICIM school with their new friends from Chandler's sister school. On the second day, the schools closed with a basketball game where Chandler won 45 to 20 and received a trophy. Other days were spent traveling around Costa Rica, enjoying Playas Blancas beach, a tropical hot springs, and other cultural sites, as well as delicious food.

Michael Gamboa reported, "The amount of fun and friends that I was able to make with everyone at IPICIM and being able to see many different parts of Costa Rica made the whole week worth every second of my time!"

Spanish teachers Amanda Vasquez and Ana Genzon led the trip and oversaw all the preparations. Later this spring, ten students from IPICIM will visit Chandler School in Pasadena. The cultural exchange marked a memorable capstone for students in Chandler's rigorous Spanish program. Students were thrilled with the opportunity to practice their language skills and experience a new culture firsthand. Most of all, they loved meeting and becoming friends with teenagers from another country!
