Five Sport Athletes Honored
Chandler's P.E. and Athletics department handed out awards last week.
It was a fantastic year for Middle School athletics, wth over 80% of seventh and eighth graders participating in team sports. All students who played on an A or B level team were honored by their coaches and faculty.
Special recognition went to those students who participated on 5 A-level teams in their eighth-grade year. Athletic Director Bill Anderson noted, "It gets you out of your comfort zone to try that many sports. These are kids who excel in one, two or even three sports, but no one is the best player at all 5 sports."
One of the benefits of the Middle School PE Program is that it allows students to discover an interest in a sport they may never have played before. Most participants will continue athletics in high school.
