Celebrating the Class of 2019

On Wednesday, June 5, Chandler School held its commencement ceremony for the Class of 2019.
The 64 eighth-grade graduates received special flower bouquets and neckties upon arrival to school, and enjoyed mingling in the courtyard before posing for a formal class photo. The graduates crossed the field to the music of bagpipes, and then took their seats for a heartfelt ceremony attended by families, friends, faculty, staff, administrators and trustees.

Two retiring teachers, Terry Orth and Will Salmon, delivered the invocation and benediction. The class valedictorian was Meena Annika Durairaj and the Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to Dr. Edward “Ted” Merchant ’63, who also addressed students during the ceremony.

After proudly receiving their diplomas, students and their guests enjoyed a celebratory reception hosted by the seventh-grade parents.
