Chandler Celebrates National Comic Book Day 

Today, September 25, is National Comic Book Day - a day that honors the comic book art, the people who create comics, and the stories we have cherished for years.
We also are fans of graphic novels, reading new artists and authors as we celebrate the day with events across the country or maybe just some light reading at home.  
 
First popularized in the United States, comic books are also called comic magazines or graphic novels. The earliest comic strips displayed dialogue in bubbles or balloons above characters’ heads. As a true art form, the art and designs can be quite intricate and beautiful, as we see in manga works from Japan, or make historical events fun (and sometimes funny) like the Nathan Hale Hazardous Tales Series.
 
At Chandler, we have comic book and graphic novels sections at both the Lower and Middle School libraries. “Our graphic novels are very popular,” says School Librarian Stacey May, “and we have so many fun options and new books coming in all the time!” Here is a list of recommendations from Stacey May that are available for purchase on Amazon or available to check out at our school libraries:
