Olympian Annie Kunz Inspires Young Athletes at Chandler

Annie Kunz, a well-known heptathlete and Olympian, has represented the United States at various international competitions, including the Tokyo Olympics and the Pan American Games. She visited Chandler School last week to provide motivation and train with students in anticipation of the Paul Korn Invitational Track Meet and the Lower School Sports-a-Thon. Her visit was a huge success, as students gained valuable insights into the world of athletics and the importance of perseverance. Her visit was a unique opportunity for students to learn from her experiences and get insights into what it takes to become an accomplished athlete.

The event started with a short introduction by Annie Kunz at Friday’s morning assembly to all students, where she shared her journey and the challenges she had to overcome to become a heptathlete. She spoke about her passion for sports, including her original love of soccer, and how she had to work hard to achieve her Olympic goals.

Following her introduction, Annie Kunz provided track & field advice to Lower School students. She demonstrated techniques for the high jump and ran warm-up drills with them. Kindergartners and 2nd graders were excited to learn from an expert and practiced the tips she shared with them. Annie will also return to work with the Middle School track team this week.

Overall, the event was a huge success, and the students were thrilled to meet Annie Kunz and learn from her. Thanks also to Chandler parent Bo Hu, parent of Avery ‘31, for coordinating the memorable experience. Students left the event feeling inspired and motivated, eager to apply the track & field tips to beloved Chandler athletic events.
