Admissions

Steps to Apply

Until you are ready to apply, we encourage the completion of the online inquiry form as the first step in the admission process. This allows us to message you directly and communicate most effectively about programs, special events and the application process.

Once an application has been received, parents/guardians will be invited to schedule a campus visit while classes are in session. Tours start in late October and are available through early January. All attendees must have a reservation and follow Chandler’s health and safety protocols.

December 9, 2022 – Kindergarten
January 6, 2023 – Grades 1-8

Applications for Grades 1-8 are due by January 6, 2023.

  • 3 | Campus Tour

Parents / Guardians will be invited for an optional adults-only tour after the application has been received. These visits are by appointment only and run from late October through early January.
  • 4 | Virtual Visit

As part of the admission process for Kindergarten through fifth grade, we include a virtual visit to connect in a personal way and get better acquainted with the student and family. This appointment is scheduled with the Director of Enrollment Management after the application has been received. The candidate is asked to bring an item to share - a favorite book, a stuffed animal, a completed drawing or project, a photo, or something that has special meaning. At least one adult should attend with the child, but additional family members are also welcome.
  • 5 | Teacher Evaluation

The completion of this form by the current teacher is an important part of the admission process and a valuable component of the candidate profile. The Teacher Evaluation Form is located on
your child's checklist in the candidate profile. Additional references in the form of an email sent directly to glurie@chandlerschool.org are welcome, but not required.
  • 6 | Transcript of School Records

For candidates applying to grades 2-8, we require school records for the past two years, the current year’s first-semester report card and all available test data. The Request for Transcript Form should be downloaded, completed and submitted directly to the child’s current school.
  • 7 | Character Skills Snapshot

Character and personal growth are an integral part of a Chandler School education. A reason families seek to enroll their child with us is because of their interest in an environment that focuses on instilling character values as well as exceptional academics, unique life experiences and outstanding opportunities. The Character Skills Snapshot gives us richer holistic information about the student and shows us areas where our community can help the student grow, thrive and shine.

This is an online self-assessment, taken at home in approximately 25 minutes, that measures students’ preferences towards seven character skills. Please click this link to get more information on the Snapshot, instructions for registering your child, and step-by-step directions for sending the report to Chandler School.
  • 8 | Standardized Testing

Chandler School has adopted a test-blind policy for this admission season. We will not require or consider any standardized testing in the admission process. This policy aligns with our holistic approach and places an emphasis on student equity and access.
  • 9 | Student Visit

Middle School applicants are required to participate in a campus visit, hosted by the Director of Enrollment Management, the Middle School Director and Middle School faculty members. Weekday appointments are calendared between October and late November and your family will be contacted by the Admissions Office with details of your child's appointment. This 90-minute program will include school-related activities, group games and an opportunity for personal introduction and peer interaction. Prior to the scheduled student visit, candidates to grades 6-8 will be asked to complete an online Google Form. This part of the admission process is designed as a space for personal reflection and as a way to help us get better acquainted with each child applying to our program.

We will provide an in-person social experience in January for all candidates to Kindergarten through grade five. Details about scheduling the appointment and expectations for the visit will
follow later this year. Prior to the scheduled student visit, candidates to grade 5 will be asked to complete an online Google Form. This part of the admission process is designed as a space for personal reflection and a way to help us get better acquainted with the applicant.

All candidates will be notified of admission decisions on March 10, 2023.
