Admissions

Steps to Apply

Until you are ready to apply, we encourage the completion of the online inquiry form as the first step in the admission process. This allows us to message you directly to keep you well informed about the admission process.

Once an application has been received, you will be invited to schedule a campus visit while classes are in session. Tours will be available starting in late October and due to the current landscape, space will be limited. All attendees must have a reservation and follow Chandler’s health and safety protocols.

All supplemental materials are due by February 1, 2022.
All candidates will be notified of admission decisions on March 11, 2022.

List of 8 items.

  • 1 | Admissions Open House

We will host prospective families on Saturday, October 16, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for guided walk-throughs. To ensure the safety of our community, all individuals attending this event must adhere to the required Pasadena Department of Public Health protocols. Prior to entering campus, visitors will be asked to complete a Health Screening attesting that any attendee has not experienced any COVID-19 symptoms, is not under quarantine or isolation orders, and will follow masking guidelines. Invitations will be sent to completed inquiries and applicants in the current application year. All attendees must be pre-registered and only those who are pre-registered may attend the event; no walk-ins will be permitted.
  • 2 | Online Application

    • The application deadline for a sibling of a current or past Chandler student (all grades) is October 29, 2021.
    • Kindergarten applications are due by December 10, 2021.
    • Applications for Grades 1-8 are due by January 7, 2022.
  • 3 | Teacher Evaluation

The completion of this form by the current teacher is an important part of the admission process and a valuable component of the candidate profile. The Teacher Evaluation Form is located on your child's checklist in the candidate profile. Supplemental forms by additional teachers are welcome, but not required.
  • 4 | Transcript of School Records

For candidates applying to grades 2-8, we require school records for at least the past two years, the current year’s first-semester report card and all available test data. The Request for Transcript Form is located on your child's checklist in the candidate profile.
  • 5 | Standardized Testing

Chandler School is adopting an ISEE test-optional policy for this admission season. This policy aligns with our holistic approach and places an emphasis on student equity and access. While ISEE test scores are not required to apply, applicants may still choose to submit them as part of the candidate profile for grades 5-8. Students who are unable to submit standardized test results, or who choose not to, will not be disadvantaged during the admission process.

Please click here if you wish to register for the ISEE. If your child chooses to submit an ISEE report, please include the Chandler School code (054037) at the time of registration.
  • 6 | Character Skills Snapshot

Character and personal growth are an integral part of a Chandler School education. A reason families seek to enroll their child with us is because of their interest in an environment that focuses on instilling character values as well as exceptional academics, unique life experiences and outstanding opportunities. We ask students applying to grades 6-8 to take The Character Skills Snapshot as part of the application. It will give us richer holistic information about the student and show us areas where our community can help them grow, thrive and shine.

This is an online self-assessment, taken at home in approximately 25 minutes, that measures students’ preferences towards seven character skills. Please click this link to get more information on the Snapshot, instructions for registering your child, and step-by-step directions for sending the report to Chandler School.
  • 7 | Virtual Visit

We will schedule these Zoom sessions after an application has been received. Applicants to grades K-5 will participate in a 30-minute appointment with the Director of Enrollment Management. Middle School candidates will be included in a 45-minute small-group session that includes a personal interview. Details of the protocols and expectations for each experience will be shared at the time the appointment is made.
  • 8 | Campus Visit

We continue to monitor the landscape and will contact your family to schedule an in-person campus visit for your child as this option becomes available.
