Claude Kelly Shares His Music Inspiration with Students
Claude Kelly visited with Chandler students in grades 5-8 this week, riveting students with his personal story of tenacity, creative passion and pursuit of his music dreams.
Kelly and fellow songwriter and producer Chuck Harmony make up the R&B duo Louis York, and founded the music collective Weirdo Workshop. The Los Angeles Times described the debut EP as "an eclectic mix steeped in hook-driven pop and throwback R&B along with rock and African tribal rhythms." Currently Louis York is touring the USA, and we are thrilled to welcome Claude Kelly to Chandler as part of our Visiting Artist Series.
Students peppered Kelly with questions about his creative process, the highs and lows of working in the music industry, and his musical and creative inspirations. "We're all weirdos," Kelly told students. "Weird is just another word for unique. And every one of us has unique gifts and talents. It's your job to develop your own weirdness and share it with the world."
